The Ultimate Hajj Guide: Step-by-Step Rituals & Preparation

Performing Hajj is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for many. At Al Rahman Travel, we provide the logistical support and spiritual guidance needed to ensure your pilgrimage is accepted and stress-free. From Chicago to the plains of Arafat, we are with you every step of the way.

Mandatory 2026 Hajj Requirements

Before the rituals begin, all USA-based pilgrims must ensure they meet the latest Saudi government regulations:

Nusuk Registration: All Western pilgrims (USA, Canada, UK) must register and book through the official Nusuk Hajj platform.

Official Hajj Permit: Carrying a valid Hajj permit is mandatory. Saudi authorities have announced strict penalties and 10-year bans for unauthorized pilgrims in 2026.

Health & Vaccination: Proof of Meningitis and other required vaccinations must be uploaded to your profile.

The 5 Days of Hajj: A Step-by-Step Timeline

Day 1: 8th Dhul Hijjah (Yawm at-Tarwiyah)

The journey begins in Mina.

Ihram: Enter the state of Ihram from your hotel in Makkah or the designated Meeqat.

The Intent: Declare your intention: "Labbayka Allahumma Hajjan."

Mina Stay: Spend the day and night in Mina, performing the five daily prayers. This day is for preparation and reflection.

Day 2: 9th Dhul Hijjah (The Day of Arafah)

The pinnacle of Hajj.

The Stand (Wuquf): Travel to the plains of Arafat. This is the most important day; Hajj is not valid without being present at Arafat.

Supplication: Spend your time in deep du'a, seeking forgiveness until sunset.

Muzdalifah: After sunset, travel to Muzdalifah. Perform Maghrib and Isha together and collect pebbles (7-49 or 70) for the stoning ritual.

Day 3: 10th Dhul Hijjah (Eid al-Adha & Yawm an-Nahr)

A day of multiple significant rituals.

Rami (Stoning): Return to Mina and stone the Jamarat al-Aqabah (the big pillar) with seven pebbles.

Hady (Sacrifice): Perform the animal sacrifice (often handled via pre-paid vouchers in your package).

Halq/Taqsir: Men shave or trim their hair; women trim a fingertip's length. You may now exit the primary state of Ihram.

Tawaf al-Ifadah: Head to Makkah to perform the obligatory Hajj Tawaf and Sa’i.

Day 4 & 5: 11th–12th Dhul Hijjah (Days of Tashreeq)

Stoning the Pillars: Stay in Mina and stone all three Jamarat (Small, Medium, and Large) after Dhuhr each day.

Farewell Tawaf (Tawaf al-Wada): Before leaving Makkah for the USA, perform your final farewell circumambulation of the Kaaba.

Essential Hajj Preparation for USA Clients
